My art evolved from my writing. Years ago in the early nineties, I wrote a kids book called Remembrance of Christmas and sent the script to an agent who advised that script would do better if illustrated. To this end, I decided to illustrate the book myself. And to my surprise, I started selling art done for the book. I was now launched into and expanding my art adventure. I contacted a gallery Howard and Leslie Gallery; here I had the most success until the gallery closed. Since then, I have been in galleries for short periods such as Wares for Art, and Calvin Morris. I have had more success on my own selling to private collectors. I have sold to collector, Betty Carol Ann Sellen, author of Twentieth Century Self Thought, and Outsider Art. Last year, I completed my second kid’s book, Once Upon an Easter with illustrations, and I am now working on my adult book, Day in The Life of Abby. I am blogging at Folkincognito.com while working on adding illustrations. All of my art is done in collage water color on paper. I also draw inspiration from my Caribbean and West African heritage.
